Eight Edinburgh Restaurants Launch Kids’ Menus for Charity

Eight Edinburgh restaurants have introduced new children’s menus for the summer holidays, with £2,000 being donated to Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity.

The menus are available at venues owned by Signature Group, including Badger & Co, Cold Town House, and McLarens on the Corner. They will run for children aged up to 14 until the end of the summer.

New dishes and activity packs

The updated menus cover breakfast, lunch, and dinner, although the exact selection varies between restaurants.

Badger & Co has added dishes such as steak stew, mac and cheese, and cheeseburgers. McLarens on the Corner is serving children’s portions of bangers and mash, and fish and chips.

At Cold Town House, the menu includes smaller versions of dishes from the main menu, such as flat iron steak, crispy chicken Caesar salad, and sticky toffee pudding. Pizzas, chicken nuggets, and ice cream sundaes are also available.

Children receive complimentary crudités and dips on arrival, along with unlimited draught soft drinks. Activity packs include a puzzle toy, animal fact cards, an allergy-free chocolate treat, and a chef’s hat to wear.

The new menus are available at:

  • Badger & Co, Castle Street
  • Cold Town House, Grassmarket
  • Black Bull, Grassmarket
  • Auld Hundred, Rose Street
  • McLarens on the Corner, Morningside
  • The Fountain, Dundee Street
  • The Basement, Broughton Street
  • The Queen’s Arms, Frederick Street

Selected venues are also serving children’s Sunday roasts with Yorkshire pudding and the usual trimmings.

£2,000 donation to Edinburgh hospital charity

Signature Group said it will donate £2,000 from the Edinburgh menus to Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity. A further £2,000 is being donated to Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.

Louise MacLean, business development director at Signature Group, said:

“We thought this was a great opportunity to enhance our kids’ meals and menus, whilst using the potential savings to donate to charity.”

The initiative follows the temporary reduction in VAT on qualifying children’s meals from 20% to 5%. The reduced rate applies across the UK from 25 June until 1 September 2026.

Edinburgh Children’s Hospital Charity provides extra support for seriously ill children and their families during hospital visits. Its work also helps fund equipment, research, activities, and more welcoming spaces for patients and relatives.

The new children’s menus will remain available across the eight Edinburgh restaurants until the end of the summer.
