Prophets plays Assembly Roxy from 5 to 31 August 2026, with Fringe First-winning writer Jack MacGregor setting a psychological thriller on a remote British Overseas Territory in the South Pacific.
Researcher Kerris arrives on Saint John expecting to study the island, then discovers a community increasingly controlled by a charismatic religious sect.

What To Expect
The focus shifts from Kerris’s research to the people around her as the sect’s theology, power, and promised ‘Day of Paradise’ begin to dominate life on the island. Memory and nightmares start to blur, making the play as much about Kerris’s own perception as the community she is trying to understand.
The production is directed by Fraser Scott and produced by Leah Byrne. It received Assembly’s 2026 ART Award supporting new Scottish writing and runs for around 60 minutes in Roxyboxy.

Getting There
Assembly Roxy is on Roxburgh Place just off Nicolson Street in the Southside. Buses run along Nicolson Street and South Bridge, and the venue is close to the Festival Theatre and University of Edinburgh. Roxyboxy is one of several spaces inside the building.
