What To Expect

The main High Street area runs from Cockburn Street to George IV Bridge, with additional performance spaces at Hunter Square and the Mound Precinct. Acts change throughout the day, so two visits can produce completely different line-ups.

The programme is family-friendly and includes dedicated community activity. BSL-interpreted performances are scheduled at West Parliament Square on 9, 15, and 20 August, while the Community Stage beside St Giles’ Cathedral runs on 27 and 28 August.

Entry and Practical Information

Watching is free, but the performers are paid directly by their audiences. Bring cash or use a card where available if you want to contribute after a show. The daily schedule is posted by the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society after the morning draw.

Location and Getting There

Most performances take place along the Royal Mile and around the Old Town. Waverley station is close to the High Street and the Mound, with major bus and tram routes nearby. Road closures and heavy pedestrian traffic make walking or public transport the easiest options.

Our Tips

  • Keep children close because crowds can build quickly around popular performers.
  • Leave a clear route behind you when stopping to watch a show.
  • Carry a waterproof layer and sun protection because the programme is outdoors.

Locations, access information, and daily schedules are published on the official Fringe Street Events page.
