Edinburgh Fringe 2026 Tickets Already On Sale as Venues Release Shows Early

Tickets for some Edinburgh Fringe 2026 shows are already available to book, weeks before the traditional full programme launch.

This marks a shift in how the Fringe festival’s ticketing rollout works. Instead of waiting for one big release in June, major venues are putting batches of shows on sale in stages, with hundreds now live.

When tickets usually go on sale

In previous years, the full Fringe program has typically launched in early June, with the official Fringe Box Office and most venue tickets becoming available at the same time. That has been the standard pattern for planning and booking.

What’s different for 2026

This year, the rollout is staggered. The first batch went on sale in February, a second large batch was added on 1 April, and more are scheduled for 6 May.

The official programme launch remains Thursday 4 June, but you can already book more than 2,000 shows right now through venue websites and the main edfringe.com tickets page.

What’s already on sale

Major operators, including Underbelly and Gilded Balloon, have opened ticket sales for their 2026 line-ups. Underbelly alone has 75 shows available across Bristo Square, George Square, Cowgate, and the Meadows. Free Fringe venues are also releasing early.

One show already on sale is comedian Donald McGinty’s Going Coastal with Donald McGinty. The show is running at Laughing Horse, Venue 85, from 6–16 August 2026.

What this change means in practice

You can start planning and booking specific shows months earlier than before. That gives more time to organize trips, sort accommodation, and avoid last-minute sell-outs for popular shows.

It also means the booking window is spread out rather than concentrated in one intense period after the June launch. More venues are expected to follow in the coming weeks.

The staggered approach is already underway and looks set to continue through May and into the official programme launch.
