What To Expect
The Galloping Cure follows a local doctor, Theresa Hart, in a fading town where the arrival of a charismatic stranger and his carousel promises relief from pain. The story moves into darker territory as the town becomes caught up in the promise of a cure that is not as simple as it first appears.
The official listing flags stylised violence, themes of addiction and medical malpractice. It is not a light family matinee, so check the content guidance if you are booking for younger guests.
There is also a post-show talk listed for Tuesday, 11 August, which may make that performance the better pick if you want more context around the work.
Tickets & Entry
Tickets are available through the official Edinburgh International Festival event page. Prices start from £23, with availability likely to vary by performance and seat location.
For access bookings, Scottish Opera lists an audio-described performance on Wednesday 12 August, with a touch tour before the show.
Location
The performance takes place at the Festival Theatre on Nicolson Street. It is close to South Bridge, the University of Edinburgh and the Old Town.
Getting There
The Festival Theatre is a walkable city centre venue. Edinburgh Waverley station is around 15 minutes away on foot, and Lothian Buses run frequent services along South Bridge and Nicolson Street.
Parking nearby can be awkward during August, so public transport is the better option for most people.
Our Tips
- Check the exact performance date before booking, as this is not a continuous daily run.
- Book early if you want lower-priced seats.
- Leave extra time around Nicolson Street during the Festival period.
- Read the content guidance if booking for teenagers or sensitive viewers.
