David O’Doherty: At This Stage runs at Assembly George Square’s Gordon Aikman Theatre from 8 to 31 August 2026. The 7:10pm show lasts 60 minutes and mixes stand-up conversation with O’Doherty’s deliberately low-key musical comedy.
O’Doherty describes the format as ‘low-voltage song and chatter’: an hour built around comic songs, loose conversation and the keyboard-led style he has returned to throughout his Fringe career.

What To Expect
At This Stage is not a big-production musical comedy show. O’Doherty’s setup is intentionally modest, combining spoken stand-up with songs and a small keyboard, with the humour coming from the contrast between everyday subjects and his slightly ramshackle presentation.
The official listing describes the hour as low-voltage song and chatter and jokes about his increasingly dishevelled public persona. That gives a good sense of the tone: conversational, self-aware and musically punctuated rather than a tightly plotted narrative show.
O’Doherty also co-hosts the What Did You Do Yesterday? podcast, and that interest in ordinary routines fits naturally with the observational side of the show. The Gordon Aikman Theatre performance is listed for ages 14+ and carries a strong-language warning.
