Richard Maguire’s There Is No Beginning, As There Is No End runs at Collective from 10 July to 13 September 2026. The solo commission is shown in the Hillside space at the City Observatory on Calton Hill.
The exhibition combines drawing and sculpture to examine British and South Asian histories, colonial control, race and sexuality.

What To Expect
Maguire uses archival photographs, painted miniatures, temple statuary and other historical material as starting points. Barbed wire and link fencing recur in the drawings, while the sculptural works refer to surviving representations of same-sex acts in Hindu temple art.
