Edinburgh Festival Theatre Events
13-29 Nicolson Street, Edinburgh EH8 9FT
Barnum comes to the Festival Theatre from Tuesday, 6 to Saturday, 10 October 2026. The touring musical brings the larger-than-life world of P.T. Barnum to Edinburgh with circus flair, a big ensemble, and a run that looks set to stand out in the autumn theatre calendar.
This is a good one if you like touring musicals with proper scale. Capital Theatres says the production stars Matt Rawle and features actor-musicians, acrobats and circus acts, which gives it a slightly broader spectacle feel than a standard musical run.

What To Expect
Capital Theatres lists a running time of 2 hours 20 minutes including the interval, with age guidance of 8+. Expect a full-scale touring musical rather than a small revival, with a strong visual side and a big-cast feel.
The mix of theatrical storytelling, live music, and circus influences should make it one of the more colourful Festival Theatre listings of the season.
Tickets & Entry
Tickets are on sale through Capital Theatres, with official prices listed from £25 to £59.50 depending on performance and seating.
Some performances may move faster than others, especially the Saturday shows, so it is worth checking the latest availability before heading to checkout.
Location
Festival Theatre is on Nicolson Street, a short walk south of the Royal Mile and close to the Southside and Quartermile area. It is one of the main city venues for opera, ballet, touring musicals and larger stage productions.
Getting There
The theatre is within walking distance of Waverley in around 20 minutes. Bus links along Nicolson Street, South Bridge, and George IV Bridge are frequent, and city-center parking can be limited at busy times.
Our Tips
- If you prefer more choice of seats, booking earlier is usually the safer move for a short theatre run.
- Evening performances are likely to be the simplest option if you are combining it with dinner nearby.
- Keep an eye on the running time if you are planning to catch the last trains or late buses home.
