Ottolenghi to Open First Scottish Restaurant on George Street This Autumn

Yotam Ottolenghi’s group will open its first restaurant in Scotland at 92 George Street in Edinburgh this autumn.

Ottolenghi announced the move this week. The new site at 92 George Street, EH2 3DF, marks the brand’s first opening in Scotland and its second UK restaurant outside London.

Why this matters locally

Edinburgh has waited years for an Ottolenghi restaurant. The arrival puts the city firmly on the map for the group’s distinctive vegetable-forward style, and it will use Scottish produce as a core part of the menu.

Who is leading the kitchen?

Scottish executive head chef Neil John Campbell will run the restaurant. Born on the Isle of Skye, he has worked with the Ottolenghi group for nearly a decade and currently heads the kitchen at Rovi in London.

Yotam Ottolenghi said the connection made the project feel special from the start: “Neil, our executive chef, is from here.”

What we know so far

Further details on the exact opening date, full menu, and interior design will be released later this year. The group has said the restaurant will celebrate Scotland’s produce through its usual bold, flavour-driven approach.

Our take

This is a significant addition to the New Town dining scene. It brings a major international name that locals have been asking for, run by a Scottish chef who knows the produce here. Early signs suggest it will fit well with the city.
