Ryanair Adds Milan, Tirana and Warsaw to Edinburgh Winter Flight Schedule

Edinburgh Airport passengers will have more options for European city breaks this winter, with Ryanair extending three routes and increasing flights to several established destinations.

Ryanair has announced its winter 2026 schedule from Edinburgh Airport, confirming flights to Milan, Tirana and Warsaw as part of a 46-route programme.

The airline unveiled its plans on Wednesday 14 October, with the expanded services operating during the coming winter season.

The changes also include additional flights on 13 existing routes, covering popular destinations in Spain and several European cities. For passengers travelling from Edinburgh, that means more choice outside the traditional summer holiday period.

Three destinations added to the winter timetable

Milan, Tirana and Warsaw are the three headline additions to Ryanair’s Edinburgh winter programme. Rather than entirely new destinations, the announcement means these connections will continue into the colder months.

Each offers a different option for passengers planning a short break.

  • Milan, Italy: A popular destination for shopping, football, museums and city breaks, with access to the wider Lombardy region and northern Italy.
  • Tirana, Albania: Albania’s capital provides a base for exploring the city and travelling further into the country, including its mountain and coastal regions.
  • Warsaw, Poland: Poland’s capital is known for its reconstructed Old Town, museums and historical sites, with plenty to occupy visitors on a weekend away.

The Milan addition is particularly useful because Ryanair is expanding its winter options through Malpensa Airport, alongside its existing connection to Milan Bergamo.

Passengers should check the specific arrival airport when booking, especially in cities served by more than one airport.

More flights to Spain and European city-break destinations

Ryanair is also increasing frequencies on 13 established routes from Edinburgh.

The airline has highlighted Barcelona, Madrid and Malaga among the destinations receiving additional winter services. Budapest, Krakow and Prague are also included in the expansion.

The extra capacity could make it easier to arrange trips around particular dates, rather than having to plan around a limited number of weekly departures.

Exact flight days, departure times and fares vary by destination, so passengers will need to check the booking timetable before making arrangements.

Ryanair expects further growth at Edinburgh Airport

The winter announcement forms part of a larger Ryanair operation at Edinburgh Airport.

The airline says its Edinburgh business is expected to grow by 11%, taking annual passenger numbers to more than 5.4 million.

It has also outlined the scale of its local operation:

MeasureRyanair’s Winter 2026 Announcement
Total Edinburgh routes46
Routes added to the winter programme3
Existing routes receiving extra flights13
Aircraft based at Edinburgh11
Reported aircraft investmentUS$1.1 billion
Expected annual passengersMore than 5.4 million

Ryanair says its Edinburgh-based aircraft support more than 1,700 local jobs. These are airline estimates rather than independently verified employment figures.

The expansion also matters for inbound tourism. Year-round connections give European visitors more opportunities to travel to Edinburgh outside the summer festival season.

Lynsey Burns, Head of Aviation at Edinburgh Airport, welcomed the new winter options, highlighting the choice for passengers visiting Milan, Tirana and Warsaw and the airport’s connections with European markets.

What will the new winter flights cost?

Ryanair announced a limited-time seat sale with advertised fares starting at £29.99 to mark the schedule launch.

That price is promotional, rather than a fixed fare for the three winter destinations. Actual prices will depend on the route, travel date, availability and any extras selected.

Passengers should also check cabin baggage allowances and airport transfer costs when comparing fares.

The latest flight schedules and prices are available through Ryanair’s official website.

More choice for winter travel from Edinburgh

The announcement is welcome news for passengers who prefer travelling outside the busiest summer months.

The extension of the Tirana and Warsaw routes provides more opportunities to visit two European capitals during winter, while the additional Milan connection gives travellers another airport option.

For Edinburgh residents planning a winter getaway, the main benefit is straightforward: more destinations available through the colder months and more departures on several familiar routes.

The new timetable is also another indication of the importance of year-round European travel to Edinburgh Airport.
