Visitors Invited To Go Wild at Deep Sea World

  • Tree sparrows (1800x1200)

A stunning new exhibition showcasing some of Britain’s most amazing wildlife is set to open at Deep Sea World, Scotland’s national aquarium, later this month (Saturday, June 17th).

Running until September, ‘Wild’ is an interactive celebration of the natural history of the British Isles.

Featuring 10 different species within intricately designed display cases, the exhibition provides a fascinating introduction to native wildlife ranging from grass snakes and salmon to stag beetles and barn owls.

Each of the displays focusses on a different aspect of our natural history and uses dynamic display techniques, high quality imagery and audio-visual material to bring their stories to life.

Other species featured include moles, foxes, red squirrels, great crested newts, gannets and tree sparrows.

Deep Sea World’s Nancy Sidhu said: “The new exhibition provides a magical introduction into the wonders and mysteries of our native wildlife.

“Each of the displays captures the individual species in a truly dynamic pose and uses it to talk about wide wildlife topics like the urbanisation of rural species, conservation, biodiversity and alien species,” she added.

The exhibition also includes formal learning materials for KS1, 2 and 3.

Deep Sea World boasts the largest underwater walkthrough tunnel in the UK. Its main display holds 4.5 million litres of seawater and is home to one of Europe’s largest collections of sharks, as well as 2,000 other fish including rays and crabs.
