Holyrood Park Guided Geology Walk led by Angus Miller of Geowalks : Wed. 6th May 6-8pm
Explore Edinburgh’s wonderful wild park with this summer evening stroll, enjoying good views and fine company, and finding out about events in the past that have made our city what it is today. We’ll walk right through the heart of the Arthur’s Seat volcano, warm our hands on an ancient lava flow, then shiver as we imagine the great ice sheets that have sculpted the ancient rocks and formed today’s landscape.
Meet at the fountain near the Holyrood Park Rd entrance for an easy walk along the Queens Drive (suitable for all) with the option of a more strenuous climb to the summit at the end if you want.
Afterwards, we’ll head to The Salisbury Arms for refreshments from 8pm onwards, so non-walkers are welcome to meet us there.
Walk price for non-members: suggested £5/£3 donation to LETS – an Edinburgh skills trading community organisation

I found this walk really interesting, and feel much more informed about local geology and also the history of the science now. I’d definitely go on another of the Geowalks, and although we got a special price for the walk, the full price would be well worth the money, as Angus, the guide, was obviously passionate and involved about his subject. The group of people were a friendly, interesting mix, and altogether it was an enriching and enjoyable time.
