The Balmoral Hotel
The Balmoral Hotel is one of Edinburgh’s most recognisable buildings, standing at 1 Princes Street beside Waverley Station.
Its clock tower marks the meeting point between the Old Town and New Town, while many rooms look towards Edinburgh Castle, the Scott Monument, and Princes Street Gardens.
The hotel combines grand public rooms with bedrooms and suites shaped around Scottish colours, fabrics, and artwork.
Room styles range from classic doubles to larger suites with separate living areas, while several higher categories make the most of the city views. This is a formal luxury hotel, but its location is also extremely practical for rail arrivals and short city breaks.
Food and drink are a major part of The Balmoral. Number One provides the hotel’s fine-dining option, Palm Court serves afternoon tea beneath a glass dome, and Scotch focuses on whisky in a wood-panelled bar. The more relaxed Brasserie Prince has its own Edinburgh247 Directory listing.
Spa and Hotel Facilities
The Irene Forte Spa has treatment rooms, relaxation areas, and fitness facilities for hotel guests and spa visitors. The hotel also caters for weddings, private dinners, business meetings, and larger celebrations, with several traditional function rooms inside the building.
Location and Transport
Waverley Station is directly beside the hotel, while the St Andrew Square tram stop and Edinburgh Bus Station are a short walk away. The Royal Mile, Calton Hill, George Street, and Princes Street Gardens can all be reached easily on foot.
Check the official Balmoral Hotel website for current room rates, dining reservations, spa bookings, and hotel policies.
