Jupiter Artland

Jupiter Artland is one of Scotland’s most distinctive contemporary art attractions, combining a sculpture park, gallery spaces and carefully managed landscape within the grounds of Bonnington House near Edinburgh.

Rather than moving from room to room, visitors follow paths through woodland, fields and gardens to find artworks placed directly within the landscape.

The outdoor collection includes large-scale and site-specific works that use the land, water, trees and changing seasons as part of the experience.

Some pieces are immediately visible, while others appear gradually as you follow the route. That sense of discovery makes Jupiter Artland enjoyable even for visitors who don’t usually spend much time in traditional galleries.

Temporary exhibitions and projects add another layer to the permanent sculpture park. The Steadings area contains the main gallery, shop, café and toilets, while the wider estate gives families and groups room to spend several hours exploring.

Visitors should expect plenty of walking and surfaces that vary with the weather.

Planning Your Visit

Jupiter Artland operates seasonally and is best treated as a half-day or full-day destination rather than a quick stop. It is roughly a 15-minute walk from the main entrance to the Steadings, so allow time to reach the facilities before starting the sculpture trail.
