Assembly Hall

Assembly Hall is a major Edinburgh performance venue at the top of the Mound, beside New College and close to Edinburgh Castle. During the Edinburgh Festival Fringe it operates as one of Assembly Festival’s largest venues, with comedy, circus, music, dance, theatre, and family shows.

The venue’s main performance space is the Main Hall, which seats around 840 people. Assembly Festival describes it as the largest performance space in its Edinburgh venue network, with its own box office and courtyard bar during the Fringe.

The building has a long history beyond the festival. It is the meeting place of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, and the Scottish Parliament also met here while the Holyrood building was under construction.

Assembly Hall is on Mound Place in Edinburgh’s Old Town, between the Royal Mile and Princes Street. Edinburgh Waverley is within walking distance, and the venue is also convenient for city-centre bus and tram connections.
