Holyrood Distillery
Holyrood Distillery is a working whisky and gin distillery on St Leonard’s Lane, beside the edge of Holyrood Park. Opened in 2019, it returned single malt whisky production to central Edinburgh and occupies a converted railway goods building.
Guided tours explain the production process and the distillery’s approach to flavour, with opportunities to see the equipment and sample spirits. The site produces whisky alongside gin and new-make spirit, and the visitor area includes a shop for bottles and gifts.
Planning a Visit
Tour formats, tasting quantities and prices vary, and advance booking is recommended. Visitors taking part in alcohol tastings should bring suitable identification and use public transport where possible.
Getting There
The distillery is south of the Old Town, close to Holyrood Park and the Pleasance. Buses run along nearby St Leonard’s Street and Clerk Street, while Waverley is around a 20-minute walk. Visit the official Holyrood Distillery website for live tour times.
