Ian Gillan: Talking Gib’rish Tour comes to Queen’s Hall Edinburgh on Saturday 8 May 2027. The performance starts at 8pm, with doors opening at 7pm.
The Deep Purple frontman is taking a spoken-word look back at more than six decades in music, from his early bands to one of rock’s biggest international careers.
This is not being billed as a standard Deep Purple concert. Gillan will talk through the experiences, people, records, and touring stories that shaped his life, giving the audience a different way into a career that stretches back to the early 1960s.

What To Expect
Gillan joined Deep Purple in 1969 and sang on the 1972 album Machine Head, which includes Smoke on the Water. He also performed the role of Jesus on the original 1970 studio recording of Jesus Christ Superstar. Those are obvious landmarks, but the point of this tour is the stories around the career rather than simply listing the records.
The Queen’s Hall description promises behind-the-scenes stories told in Gillan’s own words, with a candid and humorous tone. It should appeal to long-time Deep Purple fans, but also to anyone interested in how a touring rock career changed from the 1960s to the present day.
Tickets & Entry
Tickets are available from Ticketmaster or the official event page. The Queen’s Hall lists prices from £44.35 to £48.20 when checked.
The venue lists box office opening at 6.30pm, doors at 7pm, and the performance at 8pm. Timings are marked as approximate and can be updated closer to the event.
