The Kitchen restaurant interior in Edinburgh

The Kitchin

The Kitchin is a Michelin-starred restaurant on Commercial Quay in Leith, built around Tom Kitchin’s long-running ‘From Nature to Plate’ approach to seasonal Scottish produce.

The restaurant has held a Michelin star since 2007 and remains one of Edinburgh’s best-known high-end dining rooms. The cooking is contemporary but rooted in Scottish ingredients, with menus changing according to season rather than relying on a fixed list of permanent dishes.

Menus

Options include a set lunch, à la carte menu, Chef’s Tasting Menu and a longer Prestige Tasting Menu. The tasting menus are available at dinner and for lunch arrivals before 2pm, while later lunch bookings are directed towards the set lunch or à la carte menus.

Expect Scottish fish and shellfish, meat, game and vegetables to change with the calendar. Michelin describes the cooking as balanced and flavoursome, with the seasonal produce doing most of the talking.

Opening Hours & Dress Code

The Kitchin opens Tuesday to Saturday for lunch and dinner and closes on Sunday and Monday. The restaurant encourages smart-casual dress and asks guests not to wear sports jerseys.
