CHRISTMAS CHARITY VOLUNTEERS WANTED FOR NEWKIRKGATE LEITH
Would you like to do something good for someone this Christmas?
The British Heart Foundation and Cancer Research UK stores at the Newkirkgate Shopping Centre at the bottom of Leith Walk are calling on the people of Edinburgh to volunteer their time ahead of Christmas.
Both stores have various opportunities on offer. The British Heart Foundation has customer-facing roles and also positions within their warehouse which ensures the delivery of furniture goods to the store.
Cancer Research UK has vacancies in-store and also within the wider Leith community to talk to people about cancer and the fundraising activities it carries out within Scotland.
Kelly Hood, manager of the British Heart Foundation store at Newkirkgate Shopping Centre, said: “We are always on the lookout for volunteers but especially at this time of year when we find that we receive more donations from people as they clear out before Christmas and afterwards with any unwanted presents.
“We’d be delighted to hear from anyone in the local community who is looking to volunteer some of their time. People can also decide how many hours they would like to commit. Volunteering is a great experience and it is also an opportunity to meet new people.”
Marc Van Cartier, manager of the Cancer Research UK store at Newkirgate Shopping Centre, said: “By volunteering with us, you’ll be joining a fun and diverse team and in return for some of your time, we promise to provide you with a rewarding working experience. You can also feel good knowing that you’re doing your bit to support such a great cause!”
Any willing volunteers will be able to decide how many hours they would like to commit to and how long they would like to carry out the role for. The posts will be unpaid.
