The alternative to evening classes for busy mums

The Edinburgh New Town Cookery School is running a daytime cooking course ideal for mothers who would like to brush up on their culinary skills while fitting around nursery or the school run.

The Intermediate 10 – 2 Cooking Course starts on 5 March 2015 and takes place every Tuesday for four weeks to 26 March. Classes run between 10am and 2pm, making them perfect for mothers who need to do the school drop-offs and pick-ups, and others for whom evening classes are not practical. Each week different cooking methods are covered including Pasta and Sauces, Gelatine and Pastry, Meat and Fish cooking, and Baking.

Starting with coffee and biscuits to get everyone socialising, students will be tutored on cooking the dishes each week, and will take home the fruits of their labours to share with friends and family.

Recipes covered may include:

Pasta and Sauces: Home Made Egg Pasta, Butternut Squash and Amaretti Ravioli with Sage Butter, Pesto

Gelatine and Pastry: Vanilla Panna Cotta with Red Berry Compote, Tarte au Citron, Mille Feuilles

Meat and Fish: Fish Tagine with Charmoula, Trout with a Citrus Crust, Lamb Fillet with Herbs served with Pommes Anna

Baking: Chocolate & Orange Cake, Chelsea Buns, Chocolate Roulade
