Edinburgh’s fantasy-inspired bar, The Cauldron, has launched a discounted mid-week potions class especially for student wizards.

The world-famous Cauldron Magical Cocktail Experience offers a wizard themed cocktail-making class direct from New York and London, which uses science and technology to bring concepts from fantasy novels and magical lore to life.

Upon arrival to the one hour and forty-five minute ticketed class, trainee witches and wizards receive a robe and a real life working magic wand, which they use to conjure a delicious potion from The Cauldron’s wall of Magical Creatures.

Guests then use the equipment at their wand-interactive workstation, which includes a cauldron, mixing utensils, and fresh and bottled potion-making ingredients to brew drinkable potions that change colour, bubble, and smoke. Classes include all materials and supplies, and are £19.99 per ticket.

Matthew Cortland, co-founder of The Magic of Things, the imagineering studio behind The Cauldron Magical Experience, comments: “Although yielding a magic wand might not magic away deadlines and dissertations, we hope that the discounted Cauldron Magical Experience will make the upcoming semester a little more fun for Edinburgh’s students”.

The student nights are valid on Wednesdays and Thursdays and a university email address is required for bookings. Valid student ID must also be shown at check-in otherwise an upgrade ticket may be charged upon arrival.

Hidden in plain sight beneath Edinburgh’s Frederick Street, The Cauldron offers an immersive cocktail class. Alcohol-free, gluten and vegan options are available.
