Shoppers Invited On Shark Hunt

Edinburgh shoppers are being invited to join a shark hunt this weekend (Saturday, December 14th – Sunday, December 15th).

Deep Sea World, Scotland’s national aquarium, has hidden a shoal of shark toys in the Gyle Shopping Centre and they’re enlisting the help of youngsters to track them down.

Everyone who successfully searches out all the sharks will have the chance to win a variety of prizes including family tickets to Deep Sea World, annual passes and a Junior Shark Encounter – which includes diving in the aquarium’s giant 4.5-million-litre Underwater Safari display.

As well as the chance to win prizes, shoppers will also be able to enjoy some close encounters with a variety of sturdy rockpool residents from the award-winning aquarium.

Alongside hermit crabs and starfish, customers will be able to enjoy close encounters with everything from sea anemones and shellfish to shark and ray egg cases.

The aquarium’s giant mascot Charlie the Clownfish will also be on hand to welcome younger marine enthusiasts and there will be an exhibition of diving gear.

Deep Sea World’s Charli Corcoran said: “Our RockpoolRoadshows are always hugely popular with everyone; particularly children as they give them an opportunity to see a variety of real marine creatures up close.

“The fact they will also be able to go on their own ‘shark hunt’ and maybe win the chance to actually dive with sharks back at the aquarium should make it even more fun,” she added.
