The Loony Dook sees hundreds of hardy souls parade through South Queensferry in fancy dress before plunging into the icy waters to raise money for charity.

Spectators line the High Street to cheer them on, and local cafés open early for hot drinks and bacon rolls. Registration usually costs around £12, with proceeds going to charity. Early sign-up recommended — places go fast.
