Addressing child poverty. Eliminating debt for the world’s poorest nations. Tripling the UK’s budget for life-saving aid. These are just a few of the transformative policies Gordon Brown championed and achieved during his time in office.
As Prime Minister and Labour Party Leader from 2007, Brown’s leadership at the 2009 London G20 summit is widely credited with preventing a second Great Depression.
Gordon Brown:
‘The world as it is and the world as it can be’
Currently, he serves as the UN Special Envoy for Global Education and WHO Ambassador for Global Health Financing, advocating for global vaccinations and universal education. His passion for global access to education, healthcare, and improved living standards continues to drive his work.
Brown envisions a world where peace and fairness prevail. Let’s explore the connections between his vision for the future and the Festival’s founding mission – to transcend political boundaries through a global celebration of the performing arts.
