Edinburgh International Book Festival

At Edinburgh Futures Institute & venues across the city
📅 Friday 9 – Sunday 24 August 2026
🎟️ Tickets & programme: edbookfest.co.uk

Each August, Edinburgh becomes a global literary hub as the Edinburgh International Book Festival brings together more than 600 writers and thinkers from over 35 countries.

The 2025 edition, themed “Repair”, invited writers to explore how we mend what’s broken—from ideas and relationships to the planet and our communities.

Set in the city-centre, with its main site at the Edinburgh Futures Institute, the festival features author talks, panel debates, children’s programmes, creative workshops and live performances.

For book lovers, writers, curious minds and families alike, it’s a rich mix of entertainment, ideas and inspiration.

From major names in global fiction and non-fiction to new voices in young-adult literature and storytelling for children, the Book Festival offers something for every reader. It’s a place where stories live, ideas spark, and connections are made.
