Explore the universe through explosive demos, fun interactive activities, and hands-on crafts.
We use satellites every day, even if we don’t know it! They can be used for everything from weather predictions, to GPS to tracking pirates and counting penguins, and soon we will be launching these incredible machines from right here in Scotland! Come and join in with explosive demos that show how rockets launch the satellites into space and even get a chance to launch your own super stomp-rocket!
Want to know what it is like on the red planet? Blast off with our incredible Martian VR technology and ‘smell of Mars’ game. Get creative and build a Lego rover to explore the rocky surface. Will your robot find the first evidence of extra-terrestrial life?
And finally, discover how scientists will look into the farthest reaches of our universe using a huge telescope that can see light invisible to us. Help the team to build the special mirror that will gather all of the invisible light in the universe and then get hands-on with infrared activities that show how this amazing telescope can see through clouds of space dust to see the births and deaths of super-massive stars.
This event is guaranteed to leave you feeling inspired by our incredible universe and the scientists who help uncover its secrets.
All activities are drop-in from 10am-4pm and free with admission to Dynamic Earth
This event has something for everyone to enjoy, but we think that the activities are ideal for anyone aged 8+.
