W Edinburgh
W Edinburgh is a five-star hotel in St James Quarter, spread across three connected buildings around St James Square. Its most noticeable section is the curved Ribbon building, which has become a modern addition to the skyline at the east end of the New Town.
The hotel has 244 rooms, including 45 suites, with interiors that draw on Scottish colours, geology, music, and folklore.
Many rooms have wide city views, while selected suites add terraces, separate living areas, and larger entertaining spaces. The overall feel is contemporary and social rather than traditional or restrained.
Dining and nightlife are central to the hotel. SUSHISAMBA Edinburgh combines Japanese, Brazilian, and Peruvian cooking, W Lounge serves food and cocktails with skyline views, and Joao’s Place provides a smaller late-night bar. W Deck sits at rooftop level and gives guests a 360-degree outlook across the city.
Spa and Other Facilities
AWAY Spa has four themed treatment rooms and can be booked for treatments and hotel packages. The hotel also includes a gym, meeting rooms, event spaces, and a recording studio.
Live music, DJs, comedy, and seasonal events appear on the programme, so the building attracts visitors who are not staying overnight as well as hotel guests.

W Edinburgh is beside the St James Quarter shops and close to Edinburgh Playhouse, St Andrew Square, and the east end of Princes Street. Waverley Station and the St Andrew Square tram stop are within walking distance. See our Edinburgh New Town guide for more nearby places.
