Palace of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh

Palace of Holyroodhouse

At the foot of the Royal Mile sits the Palace of Holyroodhouse — the King’s official residence in Scotland and one of Edinburgh’s most fascinating historic buildings.

Step inside to explore the State Apartments, Mary Queen of Scots’ chambers, and the ruined Holyrood Abbey beside it.

The palace gives a rare glimpse into royal and Scottish history, with exhibitions, changing displays, and peaceful gardens looking up toward Arthur’s Seat.

Audio guides are included, and entry is via timed tickets, so it’s best to book ahead during busy months.
