Fingal
Fingal is a five-star floating hotel permanently berthed at Alexandra Dock in Leith.
The former Northern Lighthouse Board ship has been converted into a small luxury hotel while retaining clear links to its working maritime past.
Accommodation is arranged in cabins rather than conventional hotel rooms. Classic, Luxury, and Duplex categories use nautical shapes, polished wood, brass details, and Scottish fabrics, while the Skerryvore Suite adds a separate sitting room and private deck. Cabins vary in size because they follow the original structure of the ship.
The Lighthouse Restaurant & Bar serves breakfast, afternoon tea, dinner, and cocktails to residents and non-residents.
It holds two AA Rosettes and focuses on seasonal Scottish produce, including seafood and dishes prepared on board. Private booths, the ballroom, and other shipboard spaces are also used for weddings, dinners, meetings, and exclusive events.
Access and Facilities
A lift and stairs connect the main decks, including the restaurant, bridge, ballroom, and an accessible Classic cabin. The unusual layout means guests with mobility needs should discuss cabin access before booking. On-site parking is available, and the quiet dock setting feels separate from the busier streets around The Shore.
Leith Location and Transport
Fingal is close to the Royal Yacht Britannia, Ocean Terminal, and our guide to The Shore in Leith. The Port of Leith tram stop provides a direct route to Princes Street, St Andrew Square, Haymarket, and Edinburgh Airport.
See the official Fingal website for room rates, restaurant bookings, afternoon tea, event enquiries, and current visitor information.
