Edinburgh Botanical Gardens

Founded in 1670, the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is one of the world’s leading botanic gardens and one of the city’s most peaceful attractions. Set across 70 acres of landscaped grounds, it’s home to more than 13,000 plant species from around the globe.

Just a short walk from the city centre, the garden offers sweeping views of the Edinburgh skyline, glasshouses filled with exotic plants, and tranquil woodland walks. It’s a favourite spot for locals and visitors alike — whether you’re exploring the seasonal flower displays, visiting the exhibitions in Inverleith House, or attending major annual events like Christmas at the Botanics.

The gardens are open year-round and entry is free, with small charges for special exhibitions and seasonal trails. Guided tours, cafés, and a well-stocked shop make it a complete day out for nature lovers.
