Coburg House Art Studios
Coburg House Art Studios is a long-running creative base in Leith, housing more than 50 studios used by artists, designers, and makers. The converted industrial building also has a public gallery and shop, giving visitors a chance to see and buy work produced on site.
The mix of disciplines changes across the building and can include painting, printmaking, ceramics, jewellery, textiles, illustration, photography, sculpture, and design. Most working studios are private outside organised events, while the gallery and shop open at advertised weekend times.
Open Studios and Exhibitions
Coburg House is best known for its Open Studios weekends, when participating artists welcome the public into their workspaces. These events provide a broader look around the building than a normal gallery visit and often include new work, demonstrations, and pieces available to buy directly from their makers.
The ground-floor gallery runs temporary exhibitions and group shows throughout the year. The shop carries work from Coburg House artists, making it useful for locally made gifts as well as original art. Opening dates can change around exhibition installations and special events.
Getting to Coburg House
The studios are on Coburg Street, close to Leith’s Shore area and the Water of Leith. The nearest tram stops are The Shore and Port of Leith, with local buses also serving Great Junction Street, Commercial Street, and Henderson Street.
The building retains its former industrial character, and access arrangements may differ between studios. Check the official Coburg House website for current exhibitions, shop opening times, and Open Studios dates.
