
Three Armed Forces Bands Combine for Edinburgh ‘Proms’ Concert

Andy Gregory of the Band of HM Royal Marines Scotland and his army colleague Captain Tony Williams of the Royal Regt of Scotland Band came up with the idea, and the Pipes & Drums from RAF Leuchars, led by Pipe Major Ian Hughes, agreed to participate.
The finest military musicians of all three services will be on parade to provide an evening of pomp, ceremony and colour. This will be a unique gathering of Armed Forces musicians that promises to astound, with an evening’s musical entertainment that will appeal to young and old.
A selection of military marches will be played, including ‘Army of the Nile, ‘Sarie Marais’ and Suppe’s ‘Light Cavalry’. There will be a ‘big band’ section with special guest singer Gary Chilton (The Soldiers) and a selection of ‘songs that won the wars. The stunning finale will include ‘The Gael from ‘Last of the Mohicians’, ‘Amazing Grace’ and traditional ‘Sunset’.
Proceeds from this concert will go equally to Seafarers UK, The Soldiers Charity and the RAF Benevolent Fund.
