The Singer

The Singer runs at the Traverse Theatre from 4 to 30 August 2026, with music and lyrics by KT Tunstall and a book and direction by Cora Bissett.

The gig-theatre piece follows Joe, a deaf artist who creates and experiences music physically, and Andy, a musician looking for another chance at success.

What To Expect

Joe and Andy’s unlikely partnership begins through music, but the play is as interested in access, ambition, and the industry’s assumptions as it is in performance. Joe’s relationship with rhythm and lyrics drives the work, while Andy sees a route back towards the career he once wanted.

Dundee Rep Theatre and Solar Bear created the production in collaboration with Aberdeen Performing Arts. It is performed in spoken English and British Sign Language, with captioning integrated into the production. The Traverse lists a running time of 1 hour 20 minutes.
