Donations Needed Before The New Term
The Leith Collective is also asking people in Edinburgh to donate good quality, pre-loved school items.
Local businesses with surplus new stock are also being asked to help.
Founder Sara Thomson said the aim is to ensure pupils can start the school year on equal footing.
“Every day I see first-hand the huge inequality here in Edinburgh,” she said. “Education has the power to provide a path out of poverty, but for some children, just accessing that education is fraught with obstacles. A lack of uniform is one of them.
“I hope that providing good quality items, no child will feel forced to skip school because they fear being judged for not having a uniform or for wearing ill-fitting or worn-out items.”

What To Donate
The most useful donations are clean, good quality items that another child can use straight away.
That includes uniforms, coats, PE kit, school shoes, bags, and stationery items such as pencil cases.
Donations can be dropped off at any Leith Collective store during opening hours.
