New Kids’ Cookery School Launches in Edinburgh’s Morningside

A new children’s cookery school is launching in Edinburgh, with cooking and baking classes planned for youngsters aged from two to 17.

Cook Stars Edinburgh West is opening at McLarens on the Corner in Morningside, with its first workshop planned for the end of August.

The new programme will offer small-group cooking sessions, weekly classes for younger children, and seasonal workshops throughout the year. Cook Stars already runs classes for children aged 2–5, 5–11, and 11–17 elsewhere in the UK.

First Edinburgh Workshop

The first Morningside session is scheduled to run from 11.30am to 1.30pm, with children making a chocolate and vanilla swirl marble cake from scratch.

Each child will prepare their own dish and take it home afterwards, along with a printed recipe card. Ingredients, equipment, aprons, packaging, a snack, and a craft activity are also included.

The one-off workshops cost £25 per child, with groups limited to 12. Children under five must attend with an adult.

Dawn Robertson, who is leading Cook Stars in Edinburgh, said the classes were designed to help children develop practical kitchen skills while trying different ingredients and recipes.

“Our new classes will give children across Edinburgh the chance to develop confidence in the kitchen, learn practical life skills and discover that cooking can be fun.”

Weekly Classes and Seasonal Workshops

Weekly Cook Stars sessions for children aged two to five are also planned from September until December, priced at £15 per child.

Children will get hands-on with skills such as weighing, measuring, cutting, rolling, decorating, and preparing different ingredients.

Seasonal workshops are planned around Halloween, Christmas, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, and Easter.

Cook Stars also plans to run sessions at Christ Church in Morningside and St Ninian’s Church in Corstorphine, with further west Edinburgh locations expected to follow.

Where Is Cook Stars Edinburgh?

The main launch venue is McLarens on the Corner, 8 Morningside Road, at the junction between Morningside and Bruntsfield.
