Dine Edinburgh restaurant

Dine Edinburgh

Dine Edinburgh is a Scottish brasserie, Champagne and cocktail lounge on Cambridge Street, directly above the Traverse Theatre and beside the Usher Hall.

That location makes it particularly useful for pre-theatre dining. The kitchen is overseen by Michelin-starred chef Stuart Muir, with menus built around seasonal Scottish meat, fish and produce rather than a fixed list of signature dishes.

Food & Drink

Dine offers a seasonal Market Menu alongside an à la carte menu. As of August 2026, the midweek Market Menu starts at £24.50 for two courses and £31.50 for three, including tea or coffee, with similar pricing available for early pre-theatre dining.

The food changes regularly, but the emphasis is consistently Scottish: Borders meats, Highland venison, fish from Scottish waters and seasonal vegetables. There is also a dedicated cocktail lounge, wine list and Martini Experience.

Why It Works For Theatre Nights

Dine sits immediately above the Traverse and only a short walk from the Usher Hall, Lyceum and Festival Square. That makes the early dining menu much more practical than crossing the city centre before a performance.

Its normal published schedule is Wednesday to Sunday for lunch and dinner, but Dine opens daily during July and August for the festival period. Check the current calendar when booking outside summer.

Our Tips

  • Tell the team if you have a fixed theatre start time when booking.
  • The Market Menu is usually the best-value route for a pre-theatre meal.
  • During August 2026, Dine is open seven days rather than its usual Wednesday-Sunday pattern.
  • Cambridge Street is directly behind Lothian Road, with buses and West End transport nearby.
