The Chocolatarium
The Chocolatarium is one of Edinburgh’s most hands-on visitor attractions, combining chocolate making, tasting and storytelling in a guided experience just off the Royal Mile.
It’s a popular choice for families, couples, groups and anyone who would rather eat their way through an attraction than simply look at exhibits.
The main Tour of Chocolate lasts around 90 minutes. Visitors learn where cacao comes from, see and smell different stages of chocolate production and create a personalised chocolate bar to take home. The guides keep the experience lively and accessible, so you don’t need any previous knowledge of chocolate making.
The tasting room is a major part of the visit, with more than 40 flavours available to sample. Alongside familiar favourites, there are usually some unusual combinations that encourage visitors to compare different types of chocolate and decide what they actually enjoy.
Tickets and Age Guidance
Advance booking is recommended because tours run in timed groups and popular dates can fill up. The standard experience is suitable for adults and children aged six and over, while separate events such as truffle making, whisky pairing, wine pairing and cocktail tours may also be offered.
Check the official Chocolatarium website for tour availability, current ticket prices, dietary guidance and the latest programme.
