It’s time to dig out that running kit Edinburgh!  Sport Relief is here again. On Sunday 23rd March the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile will be staged in West Princes Street Gardens, with thousands getting on their marks, set and go for Sport Relief.

All super sprinters, gentle joggers and willing walkers of all ages and fitness levels will feel at home with a choice of one, three or six miles to choose from.

Organisers, The City of Edinburgh Council, are urging as many people as possible to enter now at sportrelief.com, get sponsored and help transform the lives of people living in Scotland, the rest of the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries, while being part of an incredible nationwide event.

Councillor Steve Cardownie, Festivals and Events Champion, City of Edinburgh Council, said: “This is a great way to show your support for such a worthwhile cause and we’re hoping to see runners, joggers and walkers of all abilities flocking to Princes Street Gardens to participate. Sport Relief has touched the lives of so many people, near and far, and we’re delighted to be playing our own part here in Edinburgh. Let’s show the rest of the country what we can do.”

On Friday 21st March the BBC will treat the nation to a super special night of Sport Relief TV, with presenters including Gary Lineker, Gaby Logan, Claudia Winkleman, Jack Whitehall, Clare Balding amongst others, hosting a star-studded show full of celebrity performances, comedy sketches, highlights from this year’s challenges and films about the incredible work Sport Relief supports.

Del Boy and Rodney will also be back on TV screens after 10 years with a special Only Fools and Horses Sport Relief sketch. Strictly host, Tess Daly, will reveal the judges’ favourite partnership from Sport Relief Does Strictly, where four Paralympians and their professional dance partners, will have taken on a group dance challenge, hoping to impress the judges and take home the Sport Relief glitter ball trophy on the night.

Then on Sunday 23rd March it’s over to you Edinburgh to come together and run, jog, walk, skip or hop a mile as part of the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Games.
