Ingliston Revival brings famous circuit back to life for epic family weekend of old and new motoring

The famous Ingliston Circuit is being brought back to life to celebrate its 50 year anniversary in a weekend where nostalgia meets modern day in the world of motors.

The Ingliston Revival will take place at Edinburgh’s Ingliston circuit on 12-13 September where events both on and off the track are set to keep car-lovers and families entertained the whole weekend. The weekend is the inaugural event for the Ingliston Revival whose organisers plan to make it an annual fixture in Scotland’s motor calendar.

Built in 1965 as a project by the Royal Highland Agricultural Society of Scotland, the Ingliston Circuit was home to regular racing meetings but this will be the first time in over 20 years that a public motoring event will be held at Scotland’s original circuit.

From driving some of the world’s top supercars around the track and admiring hundreds of classic and modern cars to sipping bubbly by the track, there is something to suit all. Ben Collins, formerly the test driver known as The Stig from the BBC’s Top Gear programme will be among the celebrity guests, together with Lee McKenzie, BBC’s Formula One pitlane reporter.

The Stig, will also be teaming up with display legend Russ Swift on the Saturday to wow crowds with their extreme driving skills and daring moves. Sandy Bloomer, Event Director of Ingliston Revival, said:

“We are thrilled to be celebrating the 50th anniversary by reinstating the track once used by some of the country’s top iconic world champion drivers.

“It’s a fantastic chance to let people see some of Scotland’s top vintage and modern day cars where visitors can drive them or watch from the track-side. For those not brave enough to jump behind the wheel and experience their favourite supercar, there is a host of activities for all ages to enjoy.

“The historic venue will be packed with hundreds of vintage and modern-day vehicles for car enthusiasts to admire, a stunt show from Russ Swift, an appearance from Ben Collins, previously known as ‘The Stig’ and children’s activities so everyone can enjoy a great day out.”

Throughout each day the track will host driving experiences, classic car rallies and demonstrations with a variety of vehicles. Visitors can also get in on the action by driving their favourite supercar from a Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo, Mercedes SLS, Aston Martin DB9,

Nissan GTR, BMW i8 or Mclaren MP4-12c and experience the historic track for themselves.

Many of these premium car manufacturers, including Aston Martin, Lotus, Jaguar, Range Rover and Mclaren, will also be showcasing a fleet of their latest models. Car clubs and enthusiasts will also be displaying their own vehicles where visitors are welcomed to explore the motors with 150 cars already confirmed for the September weekend.

For those not quite old enough to experience driving the track first-hand or who fancy a bit of action off-track, there is a F1 simulator, Land Rover Driving Experience, twin racing simulator and Giant Scalextrics on site as well as a bucking bronco, Segway rallies, bungee run, bouncy castle and inflatable assault course.

A Prosecco bar and food village serving up gourmet burgers amongst other top quality produce, is also on offer for those wanting to sit back and soak up the atmosphere by the track.

Tickets are priced at £20 per adult with children under 16 going for free.
