The Storyteller

  • Storyteller_MichaelDaviot

Michael Daviot presents a celebration of all aspects of verbal and oral storytelling, of the writers and the speakers, of the word on the page and the word in the mouth.

A very personal anthology of poetry and prose, dedicated to Charles Laughton and other masters of the spoken word who introduced Michael to the terrible and beautiful power of language, and its capacity to make us cringe, cry, love and laugh.

Bradbury, Yeats, Burroughs, Stevenson, Browning (EB), Marlowe, McGonagall, Dickens, HST, the Bible, Cocteau, MacDiarmid, Brecht, a selkie tale…. and much more!

Michael is the author/performer of the acclaimed solo shows ‘Hyde & Seek’, ‘Nosferatu’s Shadow’ and ‘1917, A Phantasmagoria’. He will perform his new solo, Don Quixote Unbound, at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

‘Intelligent, driven and ridiculously entertaining. A masterclass in acting.’ ***** (Hugh Simpson,
