The female version of The Odd Couple, which Neil Simon rewrote for six women and two men and set in mid-1980s New York… all big hair, padded shoulders and appalling clothes. The game is Trivial Pursuit rather than poker, and the love interest is provided by two charming and innocent Spanish blokes from the apartment above. The dialogue is fast, punchy and hilarious. Girls Aloud were formed as part of the 2002 TV show Popstars: The Rivals, and achieved immediate success when their debut single Sound of the Underground reached the Christmas number one spot. Since then, the girls have had hits with the album of the same name, plus singles Jump, Some thing Kind Of Ooooh, Love Machine and Ill Stand By You, the song for Children in Need 2004. They have enjoyed more success with the albums What Will the Neighbours Say and Chemistry, which garnered numerous award nominations and supplied chart-topping hits, and made them the girl band with the most consecutive top 10 hits in UK chart history. On 26 September 2007, it was announced that Girls Aloud have made it into the Guinness Book of World Records 2008 for the Most Consecutive Top Entries in the UK by a Female Group. EXHIBITION: IMPRESSIONS -

 Preview night 31st July 2008 7-9pm. Dumfries and Galloway based artist Ted Leeming will be launching his groundbreaking Impressions exhibition in Scotland at the Robyn Rowles Gallery, Howe Street, Edinburgh on July 31st 2008. The exhibition will run until 31 August before moving to Gracefields Arts Centre, Dumfries from 27th September - 9th November. Rapidly becoming one of Scotlands foremost fine art photographers Teds exhibition is a must visit if you have any interest in new and innovative developments in the arts world. The images have been on display at the Joe Cornish Gallery in Yorkshire where it has been reviewed as ...revolutionary...exciting...stunning. Large scale prints, more reminiscent of Turner and Impressionist paintings than photographs, are visually captivating whilst having a definite contemporary twist. Definitely one not to be missed. This series of prints forms the final portfolio of Teds four year project exploring the Inner Sense of the landscape around us, from panoramic vistas - some familiar, others less so - to a series of detailed abstracts. For the first time in it´s 17 year history, C venues (Carlton Hotel, North Bridge, Edinburgh) surrenders control over one of it´s venues for the Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2008. The result? Freak shows, secret shows and anything-goes shows. Award-winning Belt Up (Nothing to See/Hear) has devised The Red Room - a daring and decadent immersive environment space featuring vibrant productions of new writing and classics. The space, and it´s audience, will be under Belt-Up´s control. Styled as a boudoir, The Red Room will immerse audiences in a theatrical world of music, dance and physical feats. Audiences will encounter unique characters, discover secret shows and enjoy each production as an individual personal experience. Every show has been produced especially for The Red Room. Five of these will run every day of the festival: The Tartuffe, The Park Keeper, Volpone, Women of Troy, and Lost Soul Music. And scattered across various locations in Edinburgh will be Romeo and Juliet and Macbeth, run on alternate weekends over three days. Audiences may encounter a brawl in the bar, a love scene in the foyer, or be invited to a banquet. Also on the Red menu are short plays, a pervert circus, a masked tea party and comedy throughout the Festival period. Don Carlos, the Crown Prince, is passionately in love with Elizabeth, the French princess to whom he was once betrothed. Carlos’ tyrannical father, King Phillip II of Spain, decides to marry Elizabeth himself. The young prince’s hatred for his cold, distant parent knows no bounds. He enlists old friend Rodrigo, the Marquis of Posa to act as a go between. But Posa decides to covet Carlos and Elizabeth’s youthful passion into a full-scale rebellion against the kings’ bloody regime. Interweaving themes of honour, family and the corruptive nature of power in the times of the Spanish Inquisition, Don Carlos demonstrates a frustrated and near incestuous passion, sexual jealousy and intrigue, finally leading to rebellion and murder.
