Edinburgh’s Neil Barton Hair salon situated on Elm Row are delighted to announce the recent partnering with the revolutionary Dyson Supersonic Hairdryer as the only independent salon in Scotland to be fully kitted out with the brand.

‘Collaborating with Dyson is fantastic for us, allowing us to finish our clients hair with this revolutionary hairdryer and letting them leave the salon looking and feeling fabulous!’

This years Autumn/winter hair trends continue with the ever popular grey/silver shade which can look beautiful when done correctly and with the right skin tone.  However, it is a hard colour to achieve with no damage to the hair.

Neil advises to have a consultation with your hairdresser before opting for these shades so that a plan of action can be worked out, as it will usually take around six months to get hair to these shades, depending on how much colour build-up you have on your hair and your hairs current condition.

When opting for one of these shades it’s important that prior to colouring, the existing colour in your hair has been grown out as much as possible. Once you are back to as much of your natural hair colour, the hair can then be bleached to bring it up to almost white and then an ash/ice tone can be placed over it.

Natural Blondes are also a big hit for AW17

A perfect balance of light, bright and natural reflections. These shades are great for those with lighter blonde hair shades that want to tone down their hair for the autumn/winter months and opt for a creamy colour with warm undertones.

Think of blondes inspired by celebrities such as Blake Lively, Taylor Swift and Rosie Huntington Whiteley.

Redheads are another huge trend for AW17

There are a few rules here when choosing the right red for a clients skin tone. Eye colour being the most obvious so be sure to ask your hairdresser what red shade would work best for you.

Neil Barton recommends visiting a reputable colour salon as colouring at home may cause yellow tones in the hair and demarcation lines where the build-up of colour hasn’t been removed properly.
