L’escargot Blanc

  • L'escargot Blanc Edinburgh

We visited L’escargot Blanc, as a group of 12, on a Saturday night and the restaurant was very full, which is a good sign, but also meant that service from the waiting staff was not fantastic.  It took a while for our order to be taken, and the extra bread which we ordered never materialised, the glasses for the water had to be requested 5 times.

The food however, was excellent and did not take long to arrive once ordered.  A couple of people were a bit disappointed with their choice, they’d selected the tartiflette, which was basically just potatoes in a creamy sauce and should not really have been offered as a dish on its own.

It would have been much better suited as an accompaniment to a meat dish.  The advantage with this restaurant was that we could bring our own bottles, but the corkage was approximately £5 a bottle and even applied to each bottle of beer we had too – so was not quite the advantage we had first thought!

When the bill was produced the service charge had already been added on, which considering the service we’d received, was a bit of a cheek. If you fancy good food, and can put up with the service, then Petite Paris is worth a visit, but stay clear of the tartiflette.
